CREATIVE DANCE CENTER RANKED #1 IN VIRGINIA Loudoun Independent March 11, 2009
Ashburn's Creative Dance Center was the top named studio in Virginia by Dancer Magazine in their 2008 Year In Review. The studio was also ranked #1 nationally.
The selection took founder Ramona Batchelder by surprise, but dancers at creative Dance already new that they were being trained in a wonderful dance program. Creative Dance Center was founded by Ramona Batchelder in 1986. Today, Creative Dance has two full studios - one in Chantilly and another in Ashburn. Creative Dance has specialized teaching staff to train several different styles of dance.
Batchelder called the Dancer Magazine recognition the culmination of years of hard work, dedication and creative input from everyone involved.
In dance, nothing compares to performance. Creative Dance holds an annual stage recital for dancers aged 5 and up, a themed show with costumes 3-4 and a holiday recital of "Nutcracker in a Shell All Jazzed Up."
The students at Creative Dance also have option of taking part in the All-Star Dance Team for teens and the award winning CDC Competition Team for ages 5-18. The competition team spends a much greater amount of time preparing for the national competitions that Creative Dance participates in. The Competition Team consists of approximately 115 boys and girls ranging in age from 4 to 18.
Under the direction of choreographers Ginny Frye and Margaret Otto, the Competition Team is a "fun way for them to set personal goals and be part of a team, however, the focus of the studio is giving them a great dance education, providing a vital creative outlet and preparing them for however they may want to pursue dance in their future," said Batchelder.
